It is very kid-friendly and has many big booths with high backs. Kids’ meals are reasonably priced.
There are a wide variety of options on the menu, and the portions are generous.
Menu options include the famous chicken-fried steak, nachos, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, vegetarian options, wraps, salads, and other home-cooking delights. And if you save room for dessert, Houston’s is well-known for its tasty pies.

2. Big Al’s Burgers at the Junction
Big Al’s is one of our favorite quick bites in Kanab. It is an old-school diner with great food (think burgers, fries, shakes), good prices, and short wait times.
It is very kid-friendly, and you can choose to eat inside, outside under an overhang, or take your food to go (you can order at the counter or go through the drive-thru). Make sure to try the fry sauce.

We tried the $5 lunch after doing a tour and some hiking at Best Friends. We wouldn’t eat there again, but it was cheap and had nice views!

More Delicious Restaurants in Kanab
You will pay a bit more for food at these restaurants, but it’s worth it for the delicious food and unique ambiance!
6. Wild Thyme Cafe
Wild Thyme is a frequently recommended restaurant, and for good reason. Organic, local ingredients (including from their on-site garden) are used to create made-from-scratch dishes focused on local Southwestern flavors.
There are ample selections, including beef, fish, and chicken dishes, gluten-free entrees, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. Make sure to save room for a homemade dessert.
We have eaten at Wild Thyme once, and everyone in our group of four rated our meals 10/10, and we all ordered different things.

Rocking V also serves a variety of beer, wine, and mixed drinks.

Sego also offers a full-service bar with cocktails, wine, and beer.
Local Opinion
“Sego is for sure my favorite [restaurant in Kanab]. It’s a small shared plate style, so you can try lots of different dishes each time. They have very sophisticated combinations for their specialty dishes and fly in their fish and shellfish overnight from all over. They serve wine and local beers and have the craftiest craft cocktails in town!”
Open Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Saturday 5-9 PM. Closed Sunday & Thursday.
9. Iron Horse
Iron Horse is the place to go if you want BBQ and classic American sides. There is also a bar with mixed drinks, wine, and beer.
The ambiance here is very themed and fun. We enjoy eating outside here so our kids can play while we wait for our food.

10. Peekaboo Canyon Wood-Fired Grill
Pizza and a view anyone? Peekaboo Canyon Wood-Fired Kitchen has internationally-inspired dishes and amazing pizza from their wood-fired oven. The food is all vegan or vegetarian, but we didn’t even realize that until after we finished our food. We are not vegan or vegetarian, but still thought it was delicious!
The restaurant has an excellent outdoor eating area with nearby red rock views. They put up a wind block and have heaters that make outdoor dining pleasant even on colder days.
Peekaboo also offers a full-service beverage menu, including wine, craft cocktails, and beer.

14. Escobar’s Mexican Restaurant
We love Escobar’s thanks to its tasty food, good service, and casual atmosphere. The authentic Mexican menu offerings keep Kanab locals and travelers alike happy. Escobar’s also serves beer, but unfortunately no margaritas.
Local Opinion
“Go to Escobars if you want Mexican food. Their BBQ chicken salad and shrimp tacos are the best. Rosa, the owner, still takes every table’s order and her husband, Leo, heads up things in the kitchen and comes in early every day to personally make their secret salsa recipe.”

Don’t be fooled by the location of this coffee shop! Although it is located inside Willow Canyon Outdoor Co. (which is the go-to place to get any gear you need for your area adventures), the drinks are just as good (if not better) as any other stand-alone coffee shop.
Enjoy a delicious made-to-order latte, espresso, coffee, or tea while you peruse the selection of outdoor books and gear.
Every drink I have ordered from Willow Canyon has been a 10/10. And they are one of the only coffee shops in the evenings if you need a late-in-the-day pick-me-up.

We love the ice cream at The Soda Fountain and enjoy the sandwiches as well. There is a nice patio out front with good views. Head around back to see a cool mural on the wall.
