I am a mom of 2 (soon to be 3) and have personally tried out all of these stroller organizers and storage solutions and will give my honest opinion and feedback about each one.

1. Itzy Ritzy Adjustable Stroller Caddy

This is hands down my favorite stroller caddy. Not only is it gorgeous, but it is extremely functional as well.

It is extremely sturdy when attached to the stroller bars. I never worry about the stroller caddy falling off or my drink tipping over inside it.

We use this stroller caddy for daily walks and bring it on trips/when traveling as well.

I have two of these Itzy Ritzy caddies because I have multiple strollers, and both have held up very well over the past couple of years. They are easy to clean and still look brand new.

There is one zippered pocket big enough to hold your phone and a few other smaller items. There are also 2 drink holders and a wide storage space between the cup holders.

The caddy comes in 8 different gorgeous pattern/color options and has adjustable velcro straps, making it easy to fit on just about any stroller.

2. Momcozy Universal Stroller Organizer

While I usually use the Itzy Ritzy stroller caddy, I do like this Momcozy caddy as well. It has a couple more storage compartments than the Itzy Ritzy, including a phone pocket that makes your phone easy to reach.

I opt for the Itzy Ritzy most often because I like the look of it better, but this Momcozy Caddy is extremely functional and sturdy.

It is a little bit less than the Itzy Ritzy and is a solid option.

3. Clip ‘n Go Stroller Hooks

Stroller hooks are extremely handy and can be used for many different things. Hang your diaper bag, changing pad, or purse from the hooks.

If you’re running errands or going to stores, the hooks are great for shopping bags. I have even hooked a shopping basket to my stroller to hold my groceries while I shopped.

Going to the beach? One good idea is to hang your beach bag and beach toys onto your stroller or wagon with these hooks. It helps avoid sand getting all over and allows you to haul more!

When using stroller hooks, use caution and make sure the weight is evenly distributed throughout your stroller. Heavy loads clipped on the back of the stroller could make your stroller tip.

4. Skip Hop Stroller Organizer

I used this Skip Hop Grab & Go stroller caddy before I found better options. I included it on the list because it is a very popular option made by a well-known baby brand, and it is a relatively inexpensive option.

In my opinion, this Skip Hop caddy is not as sturdy as the Itzy Ritzy and Momcozy options mentioned above. It doesn’t hold coffee cups or large water bottles very well because they kind of sway around and tip side to side.

One feature that I do like is the zip-off front compartment. You can put your essentials like cell phones, money, keys, and other important items in the detachable pocket and unzip it to bring it with you if you’re going inside somewhere and don’t want to bring your whole stroller.

5. Stroller Side Sling Bag

We used this mesh side sling bag on a recent trip to the beach. It was perfect for hauling beach toys, our kids’ shoes, hats, extra clothes, etc. to/from the beach without getting sand all over our stroller.

My two-year-old also liked storing his snacks and some of his toys and important items in the sling bag, and he could easily reach down and grab what he wanted as we were walking.

I will be bringing this sling bag for any longer outings or vacations that we take, as it provides great additional storage and doesn’t get in the way.

I think it would be great to bring it along to Disney or to the zoo as well. It’s a great way to add extra storage to an umbrella stroller without causing it to tip over.

6. Removable Stroller Caddy Bag

This removable stroller caddy is useful if you will be going somewhere where you will need to park your stroller, but want to bring your valuables with you – i.e. an amusement park, zoo, market, etc.

The caddy has a detachable shoulder strap, making it easy to carry as a bag when it is not attached to the stroller.

I love using this caddy for the airport because it is super quick and easy to detach it from the stroller handles when you are going through security and getting on the airplane.

While this caddy isn’t quite as sturdy as some of the other options mentioned, it does hold quite a bit of stuff and comes in many unique design options.

7. Stroller Cup Holder with Phone Slot

I received one of these with a stroller that I purchased secondhand. It is a great option if you want something minimal on your stroller…or if you want to bring LOTS of drinks with you (you could use this in addition to a stroller caddy).

If you crank it tight, this cup holder is very sturdy, however tightening it that much did damage my stroller a little bit.

8. Stroller Organizer + Cooler

This stroller organizer/cooler is awesome for longer outings when you want to pack a lunch or snacks and keep them cool.

It is also very useful if you need to pump and keep breastmilk cool while you are out and about. Or just to keep baby’s bottles and other drinks cool in general.

We have put ice packs and frozen water bottles in ours, and it keeps everything cool and doesn’t leak even on really warm days.

This cooler bag can attach to your stroller or be carried like a shoulder bag.

I will say one downside is that while the cooler portion is great, the exterior pockets are pretty small/shallow and are not very functional.

9. Double Stroller Organizer

This double stroller caddy is a great option if you have a side-by-side stroller. Many of the other stroller organizers mentioned above won’t work for certain side-by-side double strollers, as they aren’t wide enough.

My neighbor has this caddy on her side-by-side double and loves it.

10. Single OR Double Stroller Organizer

The unique thing about this next stroller caddy is that it can be used for single strollers and can also be stretched out for double strollers.

This is a great option if you switch between a single and double stroller, or if you have a smaller double stroller that doesn’t quite fit the large double caddy

11. Side Stroller Organizer with Cupholder

We used this side stroller organizer on a recent vacation. It has adjustable straps so it can fit many different kinds of strollers.

The exterior pockets are pretty small, but the larger zipper pocket and main compartment are both good-sized.

We stored snacks, a couple of little toys, extra clothes, toddler shoes, diapers, and wipes in this side organizer while we were out and about.

Because this organizer goes on the side of the stroller, it is easy to use in conjunction with one of the stroller drink caddies mentioned above, and it helps to keep the weight balanced throughout the stroller.

12. Multi-Purpose Silicone Holder

I have used this as a cup holder for my kids in the stroller. Some people also use it for Bogg bags.

These cup holders are so cute and are very easy to keep clean.

In addition to drinks, you could also use this silicone holder for your phone, keys, Airpods, or other small essentials.

In my opinion, this would be best used for closed drinks like sippy cups or a water bottle with a lid. Large water bottles or open drinks can easily spill/slosh all over unless you have the perfect positioning and don’t hit any bumps.

13. Net Stoller Bag

This is similar to the mesh side stroller bag mentioned earlier. I definitely prefer the side storage bag because it does not get in the way as much and gives you the opportunity to use a stroller caddy as well if you want to.

However, if you have enough space, you could still potentially fit both this mesh bag and a stroller caddy on the back of your stroller.

I still thought I would include this net stroller bag because it does hold a lot and can be used on pretty much any type of stroller or wagon.

14. Cups ‘N Cargo Stroller Organizer

I was shocked by how much stuff you could fit in this stroller organizer.

I didn’t love the cupholder portion as much as some of the others that we have used, but the additional storage with the huge mesh pocket is wonderful for longer outings when you have a lot to lug around.

15. Parent or Child Snack/Drink Tray

I don’t know about you, but my kids eat in the stroller 90% of the time. Whether it is snacks, drinks, or we are eating a full meal on the go, we use snack/drink trays ALL the time.

We have a couple of strollers that did not come with a snack tray. This universal snack tray is awesome. It works for 3 different strollers that we have, is easy to attach/remove, and is very sturdy.

Two of our strollers can fold down completely without removing the snack tray, which is very convenient.

We have also tried this universal child snack tray, and it worked fine, but the one with the wrap-around arms is easier to take on and off.

16. Stroller Straps for Drinks & Toys

These silicone straps are great for the stroller, on airplanes, at restaurants, and anywhere else your kids are constantly dropping (or throwing) things.

We use ours for pacifiers, toys, teethers, and sippy cups. My kids love playing with and chewing on the straps themselves too – built-in entertainment!

17. Stroller Caddy with Wipes Dispenser

I recently tried this stroller caddy, and my favorite feature is the easy-to-access wipe dispenser. I find that I am always reaching for wipes when we are out and about to wash hands, clean off faces, wipe noses, clean up messes, etc.

The caddy holds a lot and is very sturdy. I have no complaints. I can see myself using this one as much as the beloved Itzy Ritzy caddy (even though it’s not quite as cute!).

Keeping your baby comfortable and safe in their stroller during warm weather is a top priority.

It’s essential to protect babies from overheating, as they cannot regulate their body temperature as efficiently as adults can.

Several effective strategies can help you maintain a comfortable environment for your baby in their stroller. With these tips, you can feel confident and stress-free even on scorching days.

Please note, I am not a doctor/this is not medical advice – just a mom sharing what has worked well for keeping my babies cool and out of the sun!

How to Keep Baby Cool in Stroller

1. Consider Your Timing

If possible, avoid going out in your stroller during the hottest part of the day (late morning/afternoon). Instead, go outside in the morning or evening.

If you are outside during the hottest part of the day, try to stay in the shade or limit the time you are out in the heat. I wouldn’t try going for a two-hour walk on a hot summer afternoon.

If you do plan to be outside for an extended period, plan to take some indoor breaks. Go inside (whether it’s a store, restaurant, your house, etc.) and let your baby cool off a bit before heading back out.

If you don’t have air conditioning in your home or you are away from home, be strategic and plan breaks at a coffee shop, community center, mall, etc. with AC if possible.

2. Use a Stroller Fan

A stroller fan is a compact, battery-operated fan that can be easily attached to your stroller’s canopy or frame. Here are some key features to look for when selecting a fan:

• Adjustable speed settings
• Rechargeable batteries (most can be charged with a USB cord)
• Flexible neck for easy positioning
• Attachment style – some have clips, others have bendable legs (I prefer the bendable legs)

3. Keep Baby Shaded

Babies under 6 months old cannot wear sunscreen, so it’s important to keep them shaded from the sun while in the stroller. Plus being shaded will help keep your baby cooler.

If your stroller has a shade canopy, pull that down to protect your baby from the sun.

Using a lightweight, breathable blanket to shade your baby could work, but on really hot days, even lightweight blankets can significantly increase the temperature inside the stroller.

A portable stroller sunshade (we use this Uppababy one on our Chicco car seat) can help protect your baby from harsh sunlight and harmful UV rays, while still allowing for adequate airflow. And it keeps the bugs out as well!

Some features to consider when choosing a sunshade:

• UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating
• Breathable material that allows for airflow
• Universal fit to ensure compatibility with your stroller
• Easy installation and removal

When using a sun shade or lightweight blanket, monitor your baby’s temperature and ensure proper air circulation to avoid overheating.

4. Use a Cooling Seat Pad

A cooling seat pad can make your stroller more comfortable and helps keep your little one cool. These liners are designed to draw moisture away from your baby’s skin, keeping them dry and reducing the chances of skin irritation.

On really hot days, you can pop the cooling pad in the fridge for a couple of minutes before you head outside, but the seat pad will keep your baby cooler whether or not you put it in the refrigerator.

Make sure to choose a seat pad that is easy to clean and compatible with your stroller.

5. Dress Baby in Breathable Clothing

Pay attention to the material when choosing your baby’s outfit. Avoid heavy fabrics. Lightweight, breathable fabrics, such as cotton or moisture-wicking materials, will keep your baby cooler.

Avoid using synthetic materials like polyester, as they can trap heat and make your baby uncomfortable.

Stay away from tight clothing and opt for loose instead for increased airflow. These will help keep your baby cool and comfortable in the stroller.

Consider a lightweight sun hat (if you can get your baby to keep it on!) to ensure the sun stays off your baby’s head and face.

6. Keep Your Baby Hydrated

To keep your baby cool in their stroller, always ensure they are well-hydrated.

Offer them regular sips of breast milk/formula and/or water. For babies under 6 months, breast milk/formula is sufficient.

Older babies can have water-rich fruits like watermelon or cucumber as snacks.

If your baby is not having frequent wet diapers, then they could be dehydrated. Offer more liquids.

Don’t forget to keep yourself hydrated as well!

7. Use a Cool Mist Fan

A mist fan can provide even more cooling than a regular stroller fan. You can get one that wraps around your stroller or use a handheld one if your baby is older.

8. Cooling Towel

If your baby is older, you could roll up one of these cooling towels and place it behind their neck in the stroller.

I would only do this if you can keep eyes on your baby to make sure they don’t put the towel over their face or wrap it around their neck.

Another option is to wipe your baby down every so often with a cooling towel to provide some cool relief.

9. DIY Ice Packs

A few DIY ideas to keep your baby cool in the stroller:

• Fill a ziplock bag with dish soap (alternatively you could use corn syrup or a 2:1 ratio of water and rubbing alcohol). Seal it. Place it inside another ziplock bag to prevent leaking. Freeze and wrap in a light towel or paper towel before using it as an ice pack.
• Fill 2 water bottles halfway & freeze. Wrap them in towels and place them on each side of the stroller
• If you know how to sew, fill up a sock or a fabric pouch with rice and sew the edge to seal it. Freeze it to make it a cold pack or put it in the microwave for a couple minutes to make a heating pad.

Of course, you can also use a store-bought ice pack. Make sure to wrap it in something before putting it on your baby’s skin.

*Keep an eye on your baby if you use any of these DIY cooling packs, as plastic bags and water bottle caps can be choking hazards.

10. Choose the Right Stroller

When selecting a stroller to keep your baby cool, opt for one with breathable fabric. Materials like mesh or air-filled cells allow for better air circulation, keeping your little one comfortable in warm weather.

Strollers with removable seat pads can also be useful, as they enable you to adjust the stroller’s temperature according to the climate.

Some strollers also have a removable back panel to allow for more airflow.

Look for a stroller with a wide, adjustable sun canopy with UV protection. If your stroller doesn’t have a good sun canopy, you can buy a universal fit sun shade to hook on your stroller.

11. Monitor & Adjust as Needed

Check your baby’s temperature to ensure they are comfortable in the stroller. You can do this by touching their forehead, neck, or chest.

If you notice any signs of overheating, such as flushed cheeks or sweating, take immediate action to cool them down. Remove excess clothing, adjust the stroller’s shade, use a portable fan to increase air circulation, or go inside for a bit.

How to Tell if Your Baby is Too Hot in the Stroller

It is important to monitor your baby often when you are out in the heat. Babies can’t tell us when they are getting too hot and they cannot regulate their body temperature as well as we (adults) can.

Here are some signs that your baby may be getting too hot or could be suffering heat exhaustion:

• Baby’s skin feels hot to the touch
• Sweating
• Baby has flushed cheeks or looks red
• Fussiness, crying, restlessness
• Baby seems sluggish, lethargic, or unresponsive
• Appears confused or dizzy
• Fast heart rate
• Vomiting

If you notice any of these signs, get to a cool place as soon as possible and take measures to cool your baby down. Make sure to offer plenty of liquids. Contact your pediatrician if you are concerned.

Who doesn’t love a beach vacation?! Get ready to soak up the sun, make fun family memories, and *hopefully* have some time to relax!

Traveling with babies or toddlers can feel overwhelming, but you can do it! Being prepared and planning (which you are already doing by reading this post) are so helpful.

We have been on dozens of beach vacations and outings with our babies and toddlers over the years. We recently took our first beach trip as a family of five (3.5-year-old, 2-year-old, and 1-month-old).

I am sharing all of the beach tips and tricks we have learned, as well as the top beach essentials that make our lives easier.

My hope is that sharing what has worked well for us will lead to a fun and stress-free beach vacation with your toddler(s) and/or babies!

Tips for a Successful Beach Vacation with Toddlers or Babies

Sun Protection

Sunscreen

We use mineral sunscreen for our family. We have tried various brands, but typically use Hello Bello Mineral Sunscreen or Sun Bum Mineral. I go back and forth between spray and lotion – spray is more convenient, but lotion seems to cover better.

You can choose whatever sunscreen you like, but make sure to reapply every 2-3 hours, especially if you’re out during peak sunshine (10 am-2 pm).

*Note – it is recommended to only use sunscreen for babies 6 months or older, so you will need an alternative sun protection method for babies under 6 months (shade, sun-blocking clothing, etc.)

SPF Chapstick

Having chapped, burnt lips is the worst! There are tons of SPF chapsticks to choose from.

My favorite is Sun Bum SPF 30 Chapstick. I use it every day, not just for the beach!

Swimwear/Clothing

• Swimsuit or swim trunks with a rash guard for extra sun protection.

I love these one-piece rash guard suits for babies and toddlers because they are easy to put on and provide a lot of coverage.

• Water shoes help keep little feet protected from the sun, rough sand, rocks, and shells on the beach.

• A sun hat and sunglasses will protect your baby/toddler’s eyes and face from the sun.

Unless we are talking about these adorable custom sunglasses from Etsy, I buy toddler sunglasses from Dollar Tree. You wouldn’t guess they are $1.25, and you won’t feel overly upset if they get lost or broken.

Can’t get your baby or toddler to leave their hat or glasses on? Keep practicing! They will hopefully get used to it over time.

For younger babies/toddlers, try distracting them after you put the hat on and hope they will forget how fun it is to take off.

Staying Cool

Try to avoid extremely high temperatures for babies under 6 months as they can’t regulate their body temp very well. You may need to avoid being out during the hottest part of the day (depending on how hot it is).

Here are some tips for keeping baby (and the rest of the family) cool when you are out in the heat:

• Bring a pop-up tent or beach umbrella for shade. We love our pop-up tent and use it all the time at the beach, ball games the park, and at home. It’s spacious, but still compact for transport.

• Use a portable stroller fan to keep your baby cool on really hot days. We have two stroller fans we use at the beach, on walks, in the car seat and anytime we have our babies out in the heat. Our toddlers love these misting fans.
• Bring a pop-up mini pool. These little pools provide a safe, cool, and calm place for babies and toddlers to splash around and play. They get to have fun in the water without worrying about waves, deep water, or currents.
• Consider bringing one of these shaded, portable activity centers – this one is good for younger babies, and this one would be more fun for older babies to play in.

Snacks & Drinks

Make sure to bring plenty of snacks and drinks for the whole family! Snacks can be lifesavers, and it’s super important to keep everyone hydrated during a hot day spent in the sun.

Tips for Bringing Snacks and Drinks to the Beach

• Choose individually packaged snacks or divide snacks into ziplock bags or containers. This helps prevent big bags of snacks from getting dumped and limits the amount of wet and sandy hands reaching into the same container.

• Bring a portable cooler to keep food and drinks cold.
• Pack frozen water bottles in your cooler – they will act as ice packs and will stay colder longer! You might want to pack water bottle coozies if you want to avoid condensation and sand sticking to the water bottles.
• I recently found these no-spill water bottle toppers for kids and they have been AMAZING to use with my toddlers.
• If popsicles on the beach sound refreshing, pack freeze pops into a Yeti cup with ice – they will stay frozen much longer!
• We love this portable baby/toddler chair for eating on the go
• Bring wet wipes for clean-up

Be Prepared – What to Bring to the Beach

Everything on this list is useful and most of it is compact and easy to carry.

Beach Towels – these are compact and fast-drying if you prefer that over big, fluffy beach towels – make sure to bring extras because it seems like they so easily get wet and trashed within minutes when you’re at the beach with young kids!

Beach Tarp – we use this one because it folds up so small for transport, but an old sheet works too!

Water Floats – these are nice for adults – they pack up small for transport, but offer good support in the water. Life jackets are a good idea for young kids, especially if you are on a boat or around deep water. Puddle jumpers are great for toddlers who are ready to be a little bit more independent. One of these above-water floaties could be a good option for younger babies who may not like being directly in the water.

Swim Diapers – we have used reusable swim diapers and disposable ones – both work well

Beach Chair – over-the-back chairs or portable travel chairs are easy to carry around and transport

Beach Toys – we love this cute & durable silicone beach bucket/toy set. If you don’t have any beach toys, cars/trucks, cups/bowls/spoons, and bubbles are great options as well.

Waterproof Baby Carrier – this baby carrier is made of mesh that keeps you and baby cool, and it can be used in the water

Mini First Aid Kit – it’s always good to be prepared

Wet Bag – I always try to bring a wet bag to contain wet clothes and swimwear on the way home

Portable Diaper Changing Pad – great for changing diapers on the beach or anywhere on the go

Beach Bag – there are sooo many cute beach bag options to choose from

Beach Wagon – we have a Keenz Vyoo stroller wagon – we use this wagon for everything, including hauling all of our stuff (and children) to the beach. Here is a more affordable wagon option if you don’t plan to use your wagon as a stroller as well.

Beach Hacks/Tips

• Use baby powder to get stuck on sand off of everyone’s skin before leaving the beach
• Bring these goggles with a headband-like strap to avoid tangled and pulled hair
• Bring extra towels – you will go through them quickly
• Use a mesh laundry bag for beach towels and toys – load them up and shake out all of the sand before putting it in the car!
• Keep smaller items like detangler, sunscreen, hairbrush, goggles, etc. in one of these clear packing cubes so you aren’t digging through your bag to find everything.
• Keep important items like phones, keys, and money in a ziplock bag to keep them dry. Or put them in an empty Pringles can if you want to be more discreet (no one thinks to look there).
• Bring a waterproof floating phone case if you want to take pictures in the water
• Take advantage of naptime – either try to sneak in their nap at the beach (waves make a natural sound machine right?!) or try to stay somewhere with a pool or balcony right outside so you can enjoy some relaxing time in the sun while your little one sleeps inside. Or take turns with other adults in your group, having one person stay with the kids during nap time while the others get some relaxing time to themselves.
• Last, but not least, have realistic expectations be flexible, and have a positive attitude!

Things might not go as planned the whole time. Your vacation will likely not be as relaxing as it would have been without young kids.

BUT I’m sure your kids will have a blast, lasting memories will be made, and you will have lots of quality family time.

I love traveling, especially with my family, but it is not something that we can do all the time.

Thankfully, there are some excellent travel books available for babies and toddlers that remind us of places we have been and inspire future adventures.

Aside from actually visiting new places and having new experiences in real life, stories and great travel books just might be the next best way to teach our kids about the amazing world that we live in.

A lot of these books have beautiful covers and double as great decor pieces if you have a travel-themed nursery/bedroom. We use spice racks from Ikea painted white to display some of our favorite books in our baby’s National Park-themed nursery.

Many great travel books are geared toward older kids, but we are going to focus on board books and picture books geared toward kids under age 5.

Check out this list of the best travel books for babies and toddlers that will keep little explorers interested and engaged and will inspire a love of travel & adventure!

Travel Books for Babies & Toddlers

1. I Love You More Than the Mountains

I Love You More Than the Mountains is a picture book that will be a family favorite for years and years. Beautiful illustrations and a sweet story make it a great choice.

The story features multiple National Parks that are listed at the back of the book. It is fun for little ones to try to identify each park and its unique features as they get older!

This book comes in paperback or hardcover options.

2. All Aboard! National Parks

All Aboard National Parks is pretty simple and doesn’t have as much to it as some of the other books on this list, but it is still one of our favorites because we love anything about the National Parks!

All Aboard is a series of board books for young children that cover different cities, regions, and attractions. The other books in the series include the Great Lakes, the Pacific Northwest, New York City, Paris, London, & Washington D.C.

3. Babies Around the World

Babies Around the World is a cute and simple little board book that takes you around the world to different countries and teaches greetings in various languages.

A fun and quick read with vibrant illustrations.

4. The Airport Book

This book is a great way to teach little travelers about the busy airport and the process of checking bags, going through security, boarding, etc.

It has a lot of great travel vocabulary in it and has a cute storyline to go along with the educational aspect.

There are so many details in the illustrations of this book, that you will find something new each time you read it. The book comes in paperback or hardcover options.

5. Hiking Day

If you love hiking, Hiking Day is the perfect book for your family.

The book has nice illustrations and teaches little ones about hiking and having an appreciation for nature.

6. My Africa Vacation

This book is about a family who are going to visit Africa. The parents in the story are eager to show their children the incredible wonders and diversity of the continent.

The book takes you past many of Africa’s natural and historical wonders, and it ends with the children in the book getting to visit their grandfather in his village in Nigeria.

It is a very sweet and informative story.

7. Local Baby Books Series

The Local Baby Board Book Series includes Boston Baby, New York Baby, San Fransisco Baby, Brooklyn Baby, Portland Baby, Chicago Baby, Southern Baby, and Texas Baby.

The books feature babies who are acting as local tour guides in each city, taking readers to the most popular attractions and sights.

8. What Do You See? Around the World

This is a cute and fun rhyming board book that features LOADS of vocabulary words!

It is fun to read the story with your little traveler and help them identify the objects illustrated on each page.

This book exposes your baby to many unique words he or she would not have otherwise heard or learned yet!

9. The Adventures of John Muir

It felt like a must for us to have a book about the “father” of the U.S. National Parks!

This book was slightly disappointing because it doesn’t have a lot to it, but our kids love looking at the illustrations, and we kind of make up our own story/add to it as we read together.

10. Hello World Books

There are 10 different books to choose from in this Hello World series. We checked a few out from our local library, and it was fun to read about each different city.

The books also each have a different learning theme to them (opposites, shapes, colors, sounds, etc.)

The series includes 8 cities and 2 countries around the world – Paris, London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Rome, Rio De Janeiro, Tokyo, Germany, and the USA.

11. My Mountain Baby

My Mountain Baby is a sweet little rhyming board book with bright illustrations.

I think this book would make a great baby shower gift for any travel-loving parents-to-be!

12. Let’s Listen to Animals Around the World

This animal book has great information and images, and the animal sounds add in a lot of fun!

Our toddlers are obsessed with all things animals and animal noises, so this book is a big winner for us.

Learn about different land and sea animals around the world!

13. Hello, National Parks!

Another cute little board book about the U.S. National Parks.

Hello, National Parks takes you across the U.S. to various National Parks and landmarks.

This is one of our personal favorites!

14. Goodnight Great Outdoors

Goodnight Great Outdoors is a calming bedtime story. The family in the story is saying goodnight to the animals and environment around them before they head to bed in their camping tent.

The story rhymes – some of the rhymes are a little awkward, but overall it is a cute book with a good message.

15. B is for Bison

B is for Bison is a cute and vibrant ABC children’s book that features popular animals, landmarks, and National Parks for each letter of the alphabet.

You will read about 26 interesting and unique features from 26 different National Parks across the U.S. as you make your way through this alphabet book.

16. Good Night Our World State/City Books

There are 197 books in this cute little board book series!

You can find a book for most of the states and major cities in the United States and other parts of North America.

I was pretty impressed by the things mentioned in the Good Night Iowa book (our home state) – you can tell the authors did their research and included a lot of detail!

17. Touch & Feel: Ocean Friends

We love this ocean animals book because it provides interesting facts (even for us adults!), it is interactive, and it has real photos of the animals.

This would be a great book to read if you are planning to visit the ocean or beach!

18. Little Traveler Board Book Set

My oldest son got this Little Traveler board book set for his birthday, and both of my kids love looking at the mini books.

Four different little books feature landmarks, vehicles, food, and animals from various countries around the world.

From the Eiffel Tower to tacos in Chihuahua and a double-decker bus in London, these books will take you all around the world.

19. Going on a Road Trip

This road trip prep book will get your toddler ready for your upcoming family trip! A good book to read if you want to get your toddler familiar with what a road trip entails.

Tips for Flying with a Baby

1. You Can Bring Liquids Through TSA for Baby/Toddler

You can bring full, unopened bottles of water, and you can bring milk (cow’s milk, breastmilk, and/or formula) through airplane security despite the liquid rule. We have also brought a full-size bottle of Aquaphor in our changing pad and liquid children’s Tylenol with no problems at all. 

2. Dress Comfortably and in Layers

Wearing comfy clothes will keep the whole family happier and more at ease. I’ve been on flights that are miserably hot and others that are freezing cold, so dressing in layers helps you to be prepared for anything.

3. Bring Extra Clothes for Everyone

Blowouts. Throw Up. Spilled food or drinks. It is best to be prepared for anything. We always bring a couple of extra outfits for baby and an extra outfit for mom and dad in our carry-on luggage. This is also helpful just in case your checked luggage happens to get lost.

4. Use a Baby Carrier for Boarding and Deplaning

It is nice to have baby in a secure place and to be hands-free when you are trying to find your seat, wrangle all of your bags, pick up everything that was dropped during the flight, get out of your seat without bumping your head, etc. We have 2 different Ergobaby carriers that we really like.

5. Gate Check or Put Stroller in Overhead Bin

I personally love keeping our stroller with us until we board the plane. It is a safe, secure place for a baby or toddler to be while navigating through check out, security, and through the airport.

You can gate-check your stroller for free on most airlines. We have the GB Pockit stroller, which we LOVE for traveling. It folds up so small that it fits in the overhead bin. I like keeping the stroller in the overhead so we know it isn’t getting beat up or damaged below the plane. Some airplanes even have wide enough aisles for you to push the GB Pockit stroller right down the aisle to your seat!

6. Have Baby Suck On Something During Take-Off & Landing

Try to have baby/toddler suck on something when the plane is ascending and descending. The sucking sensation helps to neutralize ear pressure and helps with ear discomfort. You can breastfeed, offer a bottle or sippy cup, or use a pacifier or some kind of toy that baby could suck on.

7. If Possible, Plan Flight Times Strategically

When possible, plan to travel at times that you think will work best for your little one. If your baby or toddler is good at sleeping on the go, then it could be beneficial to fly over nap time or late at night.

Sometimes it can be hard to predict, but if you have a feeling that your baby or toddler will not sleep well on the go, then a morning flight could be your best bet when your little traveler will hopefully be happy and fresh.

8. Use Overnight Diapers During the Flight

Overnight diapers have extra absorbency. This means fewer diaper changes and possible blowout prevention. We use Hello Bello overnight diapers. Most brands offer some kind of overnight option. These Huggies Overnights are great too.

9. Bring Ziplock Bags or Reusable Wet Bags

Contain any wet or dirty clothes, dropped toys or pacifiers, empty cups or bottles, etc. We usually bring a couple of gallon ziplock bags and one of these reusable wet bags.

10. BRING SNACKS! Lots of Snacks & Entertainment

Snacks provide entertainment and keep baby or toddler full and happy while you are on the go. I always make sure to bring a variety of snacks. We love these snack cups so baby/toddler can feel independent and self-feed.

Our Favorite On-the-Go Snacks

• Freeze-dried fruit
• Goldfish
• Applesauce pouches or other food pouches
• Cheese stick
• Granola Bars
• Veggies – carrots, peppers, celery
• Fruit – apple slices, bananas

11. Let Airline/Airport Staff Know You Are Traveling with Small Children

We have been given seat upgrades with more legroom, have been moved to a row without any other passengers, skipped long lines through customs and security, and received treats or extra little perks because we had a baby with us. Most airlines and airports want to make travel easier for families. It never hurts to ask!

12. Pump Bags & Diaper Bags are Free

We have flown with many different airlines (Delta, United, American, Allegiant, Frontier, etc.) and have always been permitted to bring both a diaper bag and a pump bag for free, AND these do not count as a personal item for paying passengers.

So for example, my husband and I could each bring a personal item, plus we could bring our diaper backpack for our son (even though we didn’t purchase a seat for him), and bring my pump bag (which is considered a medical device), all for free. You can always call your airline before your flight or look online to confirm that these items would be free if you are worried about it.

13. Use Familiar Sleep Routines/Cues During the Flight

If your baby or toddler uses a sound machine, sleepsack, lovey, or whatever it may be, make sure to bring these items with you if possible. These familiar sleep cues and routines just might help you get your little one to sleep during the flight! Fingers crossed.

14. Consider Purchasing a Seat & Bringing Your Car Seat

Domestic U.S. flights are free for all kids under 2 if they are sitting on your lap. But if you want to purchase a seat for your little one, you can bring a car seat onboard and strap them in to keep them contained. If your baby or toddler does well in a car seat, then this could be a big stress reliever and make the flight much more calm and relaxing!

This is our favorite car seat for travel because it is very lightweight, compact, and affordable.

15. Consider Paying to Check Bags & Be Hands-Free

We have not personally done this because we are cheap and will shove as much as possible into a free carry-on or personal item. But I will admit that it would be VERY nice to not be lugging 6 bags and a baby throughout the airport and on/off the plane. If it gives you more peace of mind to pay a little extra to check bags and be more hands-free, then definitely do it.

16. Use Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are so helpful, not only for keeping checked luggage organized but also for diaper bags and personal items. In our diaper bag/personal items, I always have a packing cube filled with toys, another with snacks, one with electronics and chargers, and another with medicines, Kleenex, wipes, and other personal items. 

This makes is SO much easier to stay organized on the plane and in the airport. I am not constantly digging through our bags or having to take things out of the overhead bin. I recommend clear bags like these so you can easily see what you have inside.

17. Arrive at the Airport Early

Give yourself plenty of time to get to your final destination. Leave earlier than you think you need to if you are flying. I would MUCH rather be extra early than to be running late and feeling stressed and frazzled.

If you have extra time in the airport, let your little one stretch and have tummy time if they are not mobile yet, and run or crawl around if they are mobile. Get as many wiggles out as possible!

18. Take It Easy On Yourself

Travel is unpredictable, and traveling with babies and toddlers is even more up in the air. I think it will help if you go into it with the mindset that things may not go as planned, but it will be okay.

Don’t be afraid to do things you don’t normally do. Maybe you don’t typically feed your baby any sugar, but baby is reaching for the Biscoff cookie they pass out on the flight and you know it will provide happy entertainment for 15 minutes. Maybe you don’t normally allow screen time, but your toddler will sit quietly and watch a movie for an hour. Do what you need to do to make your travel experience smoother and calmer.

19. You Will Likely Never See the Other People on the Plane Again

If your baby screams for an hour during the flight or your toddler won’t stop repeatedly kicking the seat in front of them…. just let it go. You will likely never see these people again.

Most of the people that we have encountered on flights are understanding and kind. But even if they aren’t, don’t let it get to you. Worry about yourself and your family, and ignore the haters.

You WILL eventually land and get off of that airplane, and the chaos will soon be forgotten as you make priceless memories on your family adventure.
